So you’re looking to sell your condo, but it has been on the market for a while now with no luck. Whatever the reason, you’re going to want to “wow” potential buyers when they check out your space.
Home staging is a popular way of preparing your home to look its best when buyers check it out, and that’s no different for condos. Staging can be done by a professional, but sometimes you can also do some of the work yourself to prepare to sell.
Some easy and key things to consider for condo staging include a thorough cleaning including washing windows to accentuate the view. Remove any smells that might be lingering; open the windows to air out the space, or even consider adding fragrant flowers.
Clutter is bad in condos, because there is often limited floor space. The appearance of a lot of clutter will give the impression there’s less space than there actually is. Put unwanted furniture and other items into storage or sell them to open up the rooms.
You may also want to consider painting the rooms a neutral colour, as loud or dark colours can put people off and could sometimes make rooms feel smaller than they really are. If you have an outside balcony, add a table and chairs to show the potential of that space. Perhaps add plants or flowers to make it more inviting.
Make sure that the furniture isn’t over sized for the space. Condo size furniture is ideal so you will be able to market your home to it’s fullest potential.
It is not recommended to sell a condo vacant as people have a hard time visualizing the space and it will feel smaller than it already is.
You’re much more likely to get closer (or even more) than your asking price if you invest a bit of money into condo staging!
